Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un comentario que recibí de una persona de UK, es importante conocer lo que piensan los productores de esta industria y conocer un poco sus experiencias, además de saber un poco más sobre el mercado en Europa. Creo que las percepciones son las mismas, esta es la muestra de lo cerca que estamos y que logra la globalización.

I am writing on behalf of diary farmers in the United kingdom to comment on our experiences with large mult-nationals. I understand that one such company Danone is making far from ethical moves towards the Colombian marketplace.
A blogsite such as this is vital to ensure a critical assessment of the practices of such large companies. They act often as a law unto themselves and internationally there are few regulatory process capable of ensuring their business is conducted in an ethical manner.
The main aim of such companies is to weaken domestic competition and use their multi-national status to dominate and eventually eliminate any local competition. The result is that they will have total control of dairy markets such as the UK or Colombia. This will not be to the benefit of consumer
or producer as farm gate prices will drop while shop prices will increase. The only ones to profit will be Danone their directors and shareholders. The profits will be exported to France and the local economy as a whole will suffer.
What is most alarming is the agressive entry to the national market where when they and their products cannot effect entry they launch legal proceedings in order to weaken and destabilise the local competition. We have seen this very tactic used in Europe and I can only hope the Colombian Government act now to secure their local Dairy producers. Tariffs should be introduced to ensure that foreign competitions is limited and in a country where agriculture does not only represent economic stability sucess and progress but also social, political and other forms of security it must be protected
